❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE
We love cakes with a lot of spice and this one hits the spot! It has such a wonderful flavor and the raisins with the apple butter makes this cake very moist. Then you add the maple frosting and you have a real treat. Perfect for the Fall but we enjoy this cake year round!
SWAPS
Nuts are optional but we love them in this cake. It’s delicious with either pecans or walnuts. We also think this cake would be good with just powdered sugar if you don’t want to use the maple frosting or you could do a simple powdered sugar glaze. Not a fan of nutmeg, you could switch that spice out for allspice. Raisins are also optional.

Apple Butter Raisin Cake
This Apple Butter Raisin Cake is loaded with all your favorite spices, apple butter and raisins! It is a wonderful dessert. Then you add a delicious maple frosting.
- 1 stick butter or 1/2 cup or 8 tablespoons softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups apple butter
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup nuts optional I used pecans
Maple Glaze:
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 cup butter or 4 tablespoons
- 1 teaspoon maple extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla, eggs, apple butter and buttermilk. Blend well with mixer.

Whisk together dry ingredients.

Mix dry ingredients with wet ingredients then add raisins and nuts.

Spray bundt pan or 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for about one hour.
Maple glaze instructions:

Combine brown sugar, milk and butter in a saucepan and bring to a boil on top of the stove. Boil for one minute stirring constantly. Remove and add maple extract and powdered sugar. Stir until spreadable.

Drizzle over cake. Can add more milk if glaze starts to harden.
